A Royal Wedding Afteroon Tea – YoSushi Style

I don’t know about you, but this Saturday I had major FOMO.  Not just because of the Royal Wedding, but I realised that vie never been to Windsor.  While doing my Windsor restraint recon, I saw Yo Sushi was doing a special Royal Wedding Afternoon tea.  I’m not embarrassed to admit this, but I really love Yo Sushi, so much, in fact, I chose to ring in the New Year this year at the Southbank Restaurant.  Seeing that this Afternoon Tea was only available in Windsor, I did not want to suffer more FOMO.

After an exploration of the Windsor Castle, I was more than ready for a spot of afternoon tea Yo Sushi style!  The tea comes with either Sparkling Sake, Jasmin Tea or Champagne.  The Price is dependent on what drink option you choose.

I was presented with a three-tiered tower brimming with Sushi, Sashimi and sweet treats. There was no ‘off the belt sushi’ on the tower, With the exception of the salmon sashimi, it was all new to me.

Really loved the beetroot crusted salmon sashimi, the beetroot crumb added an earthy taste and velvety mouthfeel to the salmon.  Nigiri had been reimagined into little round sushi pearls and finished with caviar and gold leaf.  Decadent salmon row with 23 karat gold leaf.  So decadent!

The stars of the show were the nori tempura tacos and the Aburi seared sushi with yuzu tobiko.  The nori tacos were really clever, sheets of nori were coated in tempura batter and fried, then loaded up with a salmon mix.  The black pepper on the Aburi sushi paired perfectly with the yuzu tobiko reminding me of lemon pepper fish for some reason. That said I’m a sucker for Tobiko!

For the sweets, there was a decadent Matcha Blondie, Adzuki Red Bean Cheesecake Dorayaki Pancakes and Chocolate Ganache Mochis.  I’d always choose an extra plate or two of sushi over dessert, but I really enjoyed this selection. Simply adore the ganache in that Mochi,

I really loved this afternoon tea that takes the English tradition and injects it with the Japanese sensibility.  This tea is only available at YO! Windsor until 31st May.  I seriously hope some of the sushi get rolled out to the conveyor belt, they were so delicious.   Might have to attempt the Nori Tempura tacos at home.

Please note that I was a guest of YoSushi Windsor.
