Fever Tree Championships with Haagen-Dazs
I have always had a soft spot for tennis. I took it up as a kid for two reasons. Being obsessed with the upturned collar Lacoste polo shirt and deck shoe wearing preppy brigade it was the ONLY sport that I could play and play the part of the prepster. The other reason I played tennis was that because of my general husky size I was recruited by the football team to play and the last thing I wanted to get battered around on a grassy muddy field by a bunch of other adolescent kinds. So, tennis was my way out, my escape, my pass to avoid broken bones and bruised eyes and feigning a macho persona.
To be honest, I sucked at tennis and did not stick to it for very long. I’ve attempted to hit the ball around since then though. A couple time post-college and most recently on a cruise around the Med.
If you ask me if mi a sports fan, I’d probably internally break out into rapturous laughter why politely saying ‘Not really’. I am a fan however of the event of sport. There is something truly exciting about being in a stadium or in the crowd of a sporting event. So, when I was invited to The Fever Tree Championships I jumped on it like it was the midnight buffet on that cruise.
I was the guest of Haagen-Dazs for the day and we got to see the action from centre court on the first day of the tournament. It was such a glorious day with blue skies, green grass and Haagen-Dazs Ice-cream. It took a little help from KS ATE HERE’s wife @tamsinbishop to swat up on the rules of the game, but by the second match, I was totally into it. It was completely magical to witness the stands go completely silent in gameplay and politely excited cheering and clapping after the rallies.
Was really exciting to meet number 5 seeded Grigor Dimitrov at the launch of his limited-edition collaboration with Haagen-Dazs. Everyone knows the reigning champion of tennis flavours is Strawberries and Creams. Grigor is challenging the Champion with his favourite Cookies and cream. Needless to say, I had to sample both of the flavours several times during the game. It was a close call personally. But I am very much Team Cookies.
Thanks again to Haagen-Dazs and General Mills for their gracious hospitality. Thank you to @NorthsouthGirl, @KS_Ate_Here, @TamsinBishop and @Tranvfood for being amazing tennis partners.
Hands up if you would like to invite me to Wimbledon. JOKES… Well, not really, I would never turn down that invite as I would love to go! So yeah… slide the invites into my DM.
