London’s Best Escargot Pastries
After crumpets, one baked delight that I could not live without are pastries. Specifically those gorgeously beautiful rounds or laminated layers of escargots.
You can get these delights in most bakeries in Paris, but now These have finally become a ‘thing’ in London. The Godfather of the London escargot has to be none other than the Islington purveyor of all things layered and that’s… Pophams
Pophams
Pophams scrolled into the world in October 2017. They do loads of laminated pastries… but the one that purpled them into stardom was their Bacon and maple swirl. Now it’s not only about the Maple & Bacon… the Marmite, Schlossberger & Spring Onion holds a firm place in my heart
Pophams has two locations

Bondi Green Bakery
The Daisy Green Collection has been serving Londoners the most Instagram worthy of brunch since 2012. Fast forward to 2020 and the launch of their newest restaurant, Bondi Green in Paddington.
Bondi Green is all home to the Bondi Bakery serving up antipodean inspired pastries… think miso and vegemite escargots, all-day breakfasts danishes, Anzac twice-baked croissants, and this Milo Escargot

Address: 2 Canal Side Walk, London W2 1DG
Arôme Bakery
Arôme gained cult status in their rather shot term pop-up in soho. Thankfully they went against what most people would do during a pandemic, and open a proper shop.
Located in The Yards in Covent Garden, Arome Bakery is a open plan kitchen and cafe. Brilliant so see the pastry chefs working and making connections with their customers.
On the menu, you’ll find their signature cakes and pastries, inspired by French patisserie techniques with flavors of southeast Asia. All the pastries are pretty incredible…. But this Miso and Bacon Escargot is something else.

Bread and Butler
Bread and Butler is a relatively new find for me. They are dangerously close to my home in Deptford. I have no clue when they opened up, all I know is that I’m glad that they did.
Their primary focus is long fermentation bread. That said… their pastry selection is worth queuing for on a Saturday morning.
This pesto and goats cheese escargot was divine as was the Bluecheese and Walnut butter Escargot.
