Sea Containers – Seafood by the Seaside errr Thames Side
Eating all the seafood at Sea Containers Restaurant seems like the right thing to do… no?
I’ve always loved the rooftop bar (The 12th Knot) at Sea Containers , I don’t know why I’ve never ventured to the Thames level restaurant before. Maybe because I think that it’s attached to zhuzhy hotel, where I thought the food would be style over substance.
The Vibe
Really love the dreamy nautical interiors that give a sense of purpose without feeling like a stage set. Model ships are more like art, graceful curves with a sleek nautical vibe.
The Drink
My dining companion likes his martini dirty… i mean like filthy dirty. The bartender obliged with the filtiest of dirty martinis… Cocktail choice was not that nautical… but helped with our sea legs
The Food
The menu is kinda broad, as you would expect from a hotel menu. We managed to keep a really good edit of all the seafood dishes with the odd veg dish in there for vitimins.
Every single dish on the menu was a stunner, loved the salmon crudo with grapefruit, salmon tacos and smokey braised octopus….. but the crab on toast (simple yet perfectly decadent) was a winner.
The Damage
Or meal came to about £150 with service that was quite a bit of food too. . I cant really comment on the number and price of the drinks as we were running a seperate tab on those that my dining companion setteled. Full disclosure this meal was comped, but given the quality of food and value for money I would have happily opened my wallet without regret.
The Take-Away
If the dreamy nautical interiors dont float your boat… then the menu will deffo make you sink your anchor and stay a while. I bet the place is stunning in the summer when they open the front glass and let the crisp air in.
Must remember to go back in the summer.
